5.5 mile RUN Course Description & Conditions

RUN Course Description:

  • You are required to keep to the left at all times.  Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
  • Participants begin heading eastbound on Princess Drive to Sibonne Road North (between the Alexandra and Veranda Resorts)
  • Turn north onto Sibonne Road.
  • Take Sibonne Road North to the Somerset Roundabout.
  • Proceed through the Somerset Roundabout and continue east to the Grace Bay Village Roundabout (Fountain).
  • Proceed through the Grace Bay Village Roundabout (Fountain) and continue north to the Sands Roundabout.
  • Proceed through the Sands Roundabout and continue east on Grace Bay Road.
  • Take Grace Bay Road East to the Leeward District Archway - this is the 2.75 mile turn around point for the 5.5 mile Island Forty Race.
  • Turnaround at the Leeward District Archway and continue back the exact way you came to the start of the race.

RUN Course Conditions:

  • The Run Course is very flat – there are no major hills, inclines or declines
  • The first 2.75 miles are mostly Eastern facing and the return 2.75 miles are Western facing
  • The road conditions are quite good, minimal potholes, debris, etc.
  • The entire Run Course is paved
  • There are no street signal lights on the Run Course – there are several “roundabouts” which are a similar traffic management system to that of the U.K.
  • Athletes must always keep to the left (on road and through roundabouts)
  • There are very few intersecting roadways and driveways along the Run Course, all of which will be managed by a Route Marshal or local traffic management enforcement, i.e., police, etc.
  • There will be an aid station at approximately every mile marker
