Celebrity Relay Team
Welcome to our Celebrity Relay Team page. Island Triathlon Series is on March 29, 2009, and are very honored to have both Andy Baldwin and Trish Stratus participate in the race and raise proceeds for Dignitas International.
Dignitas International is a medical humanitarian organization with a singular focus: to revolutionize the international response to the global AIDS pandemic. Dignitas brings community-based healthcare to Malawi, Africa, dramatically increasing access to essential HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support for thousands of children and adults.Founded by a group of international health and research experts, Dignitas is led by Dr. James Orbinski, who accepted the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize as International President of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF/Doctors Without Borders).
Our celebrities have set a goal to raise $10,000 and we thank you for whatever contribution you can provide. You can pledge our team on-line beginning April 1, 2008.
Andy Baldwin
Andy is a U.S. Navy Lieutenant. He is an undersea medical officer for a special operations dive unit stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. You may also recognize him from ABC’s The Bachelor, An Officer & Gentleman. Andy, an accomplished triathlete and winner of recent humanitarian awards from Triathlete Magazine and Competitor Magazine for his work in Laos last summer on a military mission-- where he treated over 600 Laotians in remote mountain villages -- grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he was valedictorian in high school and a competitive swimmer who made All-American. He was even named ESPN's National Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1995.
Trish Stratus
Trish will be participating in our celebrity relay in support of Dignitas International, a global AIDS organization. Combining beauty with phenomenal wrestling abilities, Trish Stratus led a new breed of WWE® Divas. She is the only woman in WWE history to hold the WWE Woman’s Championship an unprecedented seven times. She combines beauty with brawn and will go down in history as one of the most renowned women in professional wrestling. She has made television appearances on Fox’s Mad TV, has hosted the 2006 Canada’s Walk of Fame, co-hosted CTV Canada’s flagship entertainment show, ETalk Daily and City TV’s top rated Breakfast Television morning show and is regularly featured on ET Canada.
